The American musician Willy Porter brings his blend of indie-folk and rock to The Bridge Inn in Topsham on Tuesday, October 22.

He is a guitarist, singer and songwriter, whose songs explore the questions, struggles and triumphs of human existence.

A largely self-taught musician, Porter began performing in the late 1980s, and released his first full-length independent album, The Trees Have Soul, in 1990.

Since then he has toured regularly across the US, Canada and Europe, sometimes solo, sometimes with his band. He has supported artists including Jeff Beck, Tori Amos, and Paul Simon.

He also supports good causes. He has raised more than $100,000 for a shelter for victims of domestic violence in the US, and is an ambassador for Guitars for Vets, an international organisation that gives veteran service personnel guitars and music lessons.

At the Topsham gig he will be playing material from his new acoustic EP Mnemonic.

Tickets are £14 in advance.
