Salterton Drama Club are offering three plays for the price of one with an evening with contemporary playwrights entitled Murder, Mayhem and the NHS at Salterton Playhouse from Monday, September 7 to Saturday, September 12, at 7.30pm.

Ingenious artist, set designer and builder, Gordon Elliott, moves to the director's chair for David Tristram's Last Tango to Little Grimley, a comedy that provides mayhem. Membership of the local amateur drama society has dwindled to four.

It is time for dramatic. There's only one thing that sells tickets these days - sex.

But how will the locals react to the promise of a sizzling sex comedy?

All is revealed in David Tristram's hilarious play.

Seasoned campaigner Mike Terry plays Bernard the set builder, with newcomers Julia Gould-Smith, Elaine Wilson and John Sullivan all treading the boards at Salterton Playhouse for the first time. Julia, whose son, Ben, is prompt, plays scatter-brained blonde Joyce, John, Chairman Gordon and Elaine, the sensational Margaret.

The other two one-act plays in the evening are Paul Reakes' murder play Bang, you're Dead, directed by Dianne Nicholls and two scenes Plaster and Visiting Hour from The Visiting Hour by Richard Harris, directed by Wendy Gomm.

Tickets, £7, are now available from Budleigh Salterton Tourist Information Centre, Fore Street - telephone: (01395) 445275.
