CENTRE Stage, a local youth theatre group, have recently won praise from NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) for their performance of The Dreaming at The Pavilion, Exmouth, this year. They have topped all other youth theatre and dramatic groups in the South West area to win an Excellence Award and Best Youth Production. The South West area covers Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset and Hants.
The Dreaming was a beautifully crafted piece of musical theatre. It served to highlight the tremendous talent of the young cast, the crew, musicians and production team. Superbly choreographed, with the challenge of some lines delivered in Shakespeare's original English certainly impressed the judges. NODA judges formally attend many shows throughout the land. They were unannounced and anonymous in the audience. That being the case, their award is credit to the consistency of the outstanding shows performed by Centre Stage. So, locals and visitors alike who came to see The Dreaming can proudly say that they were present for what is now officially recognised by NODA as a 'prize winning production!'
In October, Centre Stage will present My Fair Lady and rehearsals have already commenced. Centre Stage will also present a medley of songs from musicals, that amateur dramatic groups have not previously been allowed to perform, entitled That's Centretainment. The concert will include many well known West End musical numbers, so don't miss these talented and entertaining performers. Tickets for My Fair Lady and That's Centretainment are on sale at the Pavilion box office now, tel (01395) 222477.
