Children in Exmouth have no excuse for saying 'I'm bored' this summer as a huge range of activities are unveiled to make the holidays fun and active.
Put together by Leisure East Devon (LED) at the town's Tennis Centre, children have the chance to play cricket, basketball, badminton, football, rugby, tennis and swimming, as well as a range of other activities including their own Olympics.
Running throughout the school holidays is Kidzmix. These Ofsted-registered day camps and away days are run by qualified staff, aimed at five to 13-year-olds, and give them a chance to try a wide range of sports. The away days offer trips to Paignton Zoo, Woodlands and mystery locations!
For tennis fans, the centre in Withycombe Road has a selection of programmes run by qualified coaches for all levels and ages, from two to teenagers, to practise their shots or pick up a racket for the first time. There are adult programmes available too. Also, as an encouragement, walk-on tennis courts are half price in August.
At Exmouth Sports Centre, in Royal Avenue, swimmers have the chance to take lessons to improve, get involved in lifesaving courses and compete in races. There is also football coaching and a local version of the Olympics.
More information on times, dates and prices are in the centres or telephone the Exmouth Tennis Centre on (01395) 223355 or Exmouth Sports Centre on (01395) 266381. There are also details at www.ledleisure.co.uk.
LED is the charitable trust which operates leisure centres, parks and the Exmouth Pavilion. It employs more than 300 staff at 13 facilities.
