Following the Salterton Drama Club's highly-rated, sell-out performance of Radio Budleigh at the end of July, work has begun to transform the Salterton Playhouse from a radio studio of the late 1950s to the library office of a provincial newspaper in the 1970s.

Following the Salterton Drama Club's highly-rated, sell-out performance of Radio Budleigh at the end of July, work has begun to transform the Salterton Playhouse from a radio studio of the late 1950s to the library office of a provincial newspaper in the 1970s. This will provide the setting for Michael Frayn's humorous, but poignant, play Alphabetical Order.

Richard Gomm is returning to the director's chair, having restored the Salterton Drama Club's lapsed tradition of a September play last year with the hilarious Farndale Murder Mystery, which proved a great success.

Together with his wife, Wendy, and David Holt, Richard formed a trio who were the brains behind Radio Budleigh and Wendy and David play important roles in Alphabetical Order. Mike Terry and Simon Blissett, who were also part of the cast for Radio Budleigh, will play journalists in Alphabetical Order.

The play will run from Monday, September 8 - Saturday, September 13, at the Salterton Playhouse. Tickets will go on sale at the Budleigh Salterton Tourist Information Centre from Saturday, August 23.
