FOOTBALL enthusiasts from Topsham aged between 11 and 17 can take part in a new ongoing event organised by the town's police community support officer.

The Friday Football Project, supported by Devon County Council, takes place every week at the 100 Club in Countess Wear.

The weekly event, attended by qualified FA coaches, takes place between 6.30pm and 8pm.

The scheme was launched with the help of Topsham PCSO Percy Giles.

Mr Giles said: "The project has been set up to give young people something enjoyable and constructive to do. There was perceived to be a lot of anti-social behaviour on the Countess Wear estate."

The event is free for people to attend but numbers of those able to participate will be limited.

Anyone interested in volunteering to help at the project should contact PCSO Giles on (01392) 874630.
