On Saturday, October 10, family historians from all over Devon are set to attend the brand new Find Your Roots event.

The event, which is the first of its kind for Devon, will offer visitors a fascinating blend of expert advice, tantalising talks and specialist exhibitors - providing everything the budding genealogist needs. Covering everything from how to get started, to searching military records and even how DNA can be used to uncover your ancestry, the Find Your Roots show will have it all.

Supporting the event will be the Devon Family History Society, the largest of its kind in the UK, who have groups in Plymouth, Exeter, North and South Devon. On their stand they will be giving advice as well as taking to the lecture theatre to discuss Devon Family History.

Other guest speakers include TV's Dr Nick Barratt, DNA expert Chris Pomery, Military historian Paul Blake and Mary Hyland of Plantagenesta who are based in the beautiful grounds of Powderham Castle.

The event is taking place at the Matford Centre, located on the Marsh Barton Estate, Exeter. Anyone interested in learning more about the event should contact the organisers, Contour Exhibitions, by calling (01392) 421500 or check their website www.contour.uk.net
