MORE than 1,000 women spent their Saturday night striding the streets of Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth, taking part in the Hospiscare midnight walk.

Some 1,200 women walked the seven miles from Budleigh to Exmouth - many in memory of loved ones and friends who were battling cancer, or who had lost their lives to the disease.

The walk was split into three groups, with the first setting off at 11pm.

The women, many in fancy dress and carrying torches to light the way, walked into the early hours of the morning in a bid to raise much-needed funds for the charity.
