Exmouth Town Concert Band will be performing at the Exmouth Pavilion on Wednesday, April 15, at 7.30pm. As always there will be a varied programme of music under the direction of Steve Grant.

Many of the band's followers will know of the sudden death of their director of Music, Keith Whittall, in November last year. This concert is two fold, in that it will be in memory of Keith and all the fine work he did for the local musicians of all ages and not least his work for the band. The band's supported charity for this concert is the British Heart Foundation. This was a favourite charity of Keith's; he used to take part in the annual cycling event for this charity for numerous years and cajoled many members to join him in the ride!

At this concert they will also introduce Keith's successor, another former Royal Marine Bandsman, Ex C/Sgt Steve Grant. Steve gained his musical experience while serving 25 years in the Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines. He travelled extensively throughout the world, performing for royalty and dignitaries. One of the highlights of his career in the Royal Marines was being given the position as principal flautist on board HM Yacht Britannia during a royal tour of America and the Caribbean. Since leaving the Royal Marines, Steve has continued with his musical career as a peripatetic teacher in East Devon, teaching flute, saxophone and clarinet. He took up the role as conductor of the Devon Youth Wind Orchestra in 2006. He is also the conductor of East Devon Music Centre Wind Band and Saxophone Choir, as well as various other ensembles.

Tickets are priced at £6 and can be purchased from the box office on (01395) 222477 or you can book online at www.exmouthpavilion.co.uk
