Work from Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton artists will soon be on show in Exeter.

The Abstraction at PS45 exhibition (November 30 to December 13) features abstract work from 15 local artists.

“Rather than imitating or representing something, the artists use colour, shape and line to show their inner world, and invoke an emotional response in the viewer,” says an exhibition spokesperson. “This is similar to the way that a piece of music uses pitch, timbre and rhythm to create feelings in the listener.”

Artists on show include abstract expressionist Patrick Jones.

“I take my response to life and the world around me to make vibrant and colourful abstract paintings,” says Patrick. “The aim is to make work that will inspire and bring joy and meaning to other people’s lives.”

The exhibition is open daily (11am-6pm; Thursdays 11am-8pm). The PS45 Gallery is at 45 Preston Street, Exeter, EX1 1DF. Free admission.
