Choir 97 set to sing Handel’s Messiah
PUBLISHED: 16:43 11 November 2010
On Saturday, December 4, Marion Room will conduct members of Choir 97, augmented by many other singers from the surrounding area, in a sparkling performance of Handel’s Messiah.
This is fast establishing itself as a bi-annual event in Exmouth and is a wonderful way of beginning preparations for Christmas.
Without doubt, Messiah contains some of the most glorious and well-loved music ever written.
Pieces such as the Halleluia Chorus, For Unto us a Child is Born and I Know That My Redeemer Liveth can both inspire or move us to tears, so an opportunity to hear them sung in Exmouth by excellent soloists and a choir of more than 100 voices is not to be missed.
Moreover, it is not too late for you to be a part of this choir. All voices are welcome and experience -though helpful - is not necessary.
If you would like to be involved, simply ring Mrs V Racher on (01395) 272840 to give details of your name etc.
The cost of the day is £10 and includes a rehearsal from 2.30pm to 5pm, which will be followed by an evening performance at 7.30pm.
Originally scheduled to take place in Tower Street Methodist Church, the concert will now be taking place in Holy Trinity.
Entry to the performance in the evening will be £5 and all money raised by this event will be shared by The Exeter Leukaemia Fund, The Multiple Sclerosis Society and Hospiscare SW, all extremely deserving charities.
So, do go and sing or just go and listen.
The choir members will be delighted to see you and you are guaranteed a wonderful experience.
