The popular Christmas carol evening at Exmouth’s Bicton Inn is coming up soon.

The annual event – a festive highlight for more than 20 years – is on Sunday, December 17, from 7.30pm onwards. This year’s seasonal gathering will be led by Exmouth Shanty Man Derek Brooks, with music from classical pianist Tim Othen, Bob King (guitar and banjo) and a brass section from Exeter.

The Exmouth Carollers will be adding their vocal support. The Lympstone Mummers will also appear, presenting one of their traditional mummers’ plays.

“This participatory event is designed to get everyone into the Christmas spirit with carols and Christmas songs,” says an event spokesperson. “So, the piano is tuned, the brass section is polished, and the mince pies are hot. All that’s now needed are some enthusiastic singing voices. Word sheets are provided.”

The event is popular, so you’re advised to come early if you want to sit down.
