Steve learned from some of the 'blues greats', but has developed his own style
The American blues guitarist Steve James appears at The Bridge Inn, Topsham for his annual visit on Saturday, November 10.
He is known as one of the best modern bottleneck slide guitar players, a songwriter whose lyrics convey depth and humour, and an entertaining raconteur.
Steve was raised in New York, but as a young man he spent formative years in Memphis sitting at the feet of blues legends like Furry Lewis, before relocating to Austin, Texas where he became a seminal figure in the local vibrant music scene, working with Bonnie Raitt, John Hammond and Bo Diddley
He has earned his reputation with decades of tireless international touring, a stack of solo recordings, a funny, kinetic stage presence and an unmistakable style of playing and singing. He is described as a welcome reminder that great music often only needs one person and a guitar.
His show at The Bridge begins at 8pm. Tickets £12 from The Bridge 01392 873862.
