This year’s Salterton Players’ Christmas offering will be a Radio Budleigh production of John Mortimer’s adaptation of A Christmas Carol.

Director Wendy Gomm has recently cast the piece, and rehearsals for the play and set-building are now well under way.

Mortimer’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’s original story tells a heart-warming tale of redemption.

As the play progresses, the audience follow mean-minded miser Ebenezer Scrooge as he is taken on a spiritual journey by a succession of ghostly visitors, until he at last comes to understand the true significance of Christmas, and he emerges a changed man.

The play will be performed at the Salterton Playhouse, Budleigh Salterton, from Monday, December 4 to Friday, December 8, at 7.30pm nightly, with a matinee on Saturday, December 9 at 2.30pm. Tickets are priced at £8, available from Budleigh Tourist Information Centre (01395 445275) three weeks before the opening night.
