Exe ladies' 2nds were beaten 3-0 by Bournemouth in a game played with snow falling for long periods.
Bournemouth took first push back and were immediately on the attack. Even with a well-drilled half-court press from Exe, Bournemouth took their chances, scoring two excellent goals within the first 15 minutes.
Exe regrouped and defended well for the remainder of the half, reaching the interval still those two goals down.
The second half saw much of the same, with Exe defending hard and Bournemouth attacking through the middle with well-placed balls and quick passing which brought them a third and final goal.
The Exe Man of the Match award went to captain Kate Wright.
There were defeats for both Exe Ladies’ thirds – beaten 4-0 by Exeter University – and also Exe ladies’ fourths, who lost 5-0 to Dart, and there was no joy either for the Exe ladies’ fifth team, beaten 4-0 by Dart II.
The fifth team’s cause was not helped by an early injury to Helen Fyfe that left them playing with 10 for the majority of the match.
Adding insult to injury for the fifth team was the fact that three of the Dart II goals – all scored in the second half – were deflected shots!
