A strong field of 135 players competed for the Mitie Cup at Woodbury Park on Saturday, writes Julie Brown.
The course was in great shape and the ball was running a mile. Andrew Rowden, for the men, came in first to win the Cup with 39 points, finishing just ahead of Nick Pearce, also on 39 and Mark Newton on 37.
Three ladies came in with a top score of 37, Patricia Chattey, Jane Cross and Sonya Hodges. Patricia came first on countback and therefore takes the ladies Mitie Cup.
For her efforts she will get her second handicap cut in as many weeks.
Veronica Hughes arranged a mixed friendly match on the Acorns which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The winning pair were Keith Lunness and Di Munroe. John Day won both the longest drive and nearest the pin. Tracey Rowlands who has only recently got her handicap was nearest the pin for the ladies.
The ladies Presidents team had a 5-2 win over Dawlish Warren and the Sheelah Creasy team were pleased to halve their final match away against Tiverton.
