Woodbury Park's Sue Persey and Norma Foster travelled to Fingle Glen to play against ladies from Libbaton in the first round of The Devon County Interclub Knockout, writes Carole Pye.

The Woodbury ladies returned victorious after a marvellous 4 and 3 success which sees them ease their way into the next round.

The weather has caused a lot of disruption in golf this past week! However, the weekend competition, “The Virgin Atlantic” went ahead albeit in very trying conditions!

The first division was won, after count back, by David Cockayne Jnr with a score of 37. Well done to David for winning the first division two weeks running!

Andy Blakemore was the unfortunate player edged out on count back after he too finished with 37.

Robin Dummelow led the second division with 37 points, ahead of Steven Stott (36). After count back, the overall winner of the third division and also “The Virgin Atlantic” competition with a score of 38 was Adrian Greenslade.

This success means that Adrian has now qualified to represent Woodbury Park in the regional final at Saunton Sands where he will be partnered by Peter Laughter, Woodbury’s professional. Peter Baldwin (38) was runner-up.

Last weekend also saw eleven ladies playing in a dual competition.

This was for The Foster Bowl, a competition for the best Stableford points on a monthly basis over the last 12 months and the players also had the option of playing in the weekend stableford. In the Silver division, Sara Beaven, with 30 points, was the outright winner of both the “Foster Bowl” and the Stableford competition, followed by Avril Glover with 26; the Bronze division was taken by Paula Cowl on 26, with Sue Kirk runner-up on 24.
