Woodbury ladies enjoy victory over Stover ladies

From an abnormally small turnout, the mid-week Stableford was won by Paul Richie with a score of 43 points, followed by Mike Bird on 41, writes Carole Pye
Pink Day was the theme for the ladies’ roll-up. The weather was unpredictable so the game was played over nine holes.
The winner on the Oaks was Sue Calderbank on 18 points with Joan Millard (14) runner-up on count back.
Shirley Hinchcliffe’s score of 21 made her the overall winner on the Acorns, followed by Chris Haveron (20).
The format for the weekend competition was an individual Stableford and some excellent scores were recorded.
Division 1 was won by Andrew Hirst (43), with Paul Mullerworth (41) runner-up. Andy Neilson took Division 2 with an impressive 45 points ahead of Paul Curgenven’s 41.
Also on 45 points was the winner of the third division, Francois Helmer ahead of Matt Vincent (41).
Lyn Playford had an outstanding score of 47 to take the ladies’ competition with Sue Persey runner-up on 40.
Stover ladies came to Woodbury for the first of the friendly games to be played on the Oaks. Perfect conditions and a relaxed atmosphere contributed to a very enjoyable day. Woodbury, having the home advantage, won 5-2.
Having beaten Royal North Devon 5-2 at Woodbury earlier in the season, the Seniors’ were optimistic for the outcome of the return away match. However, the tricky coastal course and strong wind favoured RND who also won 5-2.
