Withycombe RFC U16s finished off a terrific season and fantastic time as juniors with one final memory.

During the Covid lockdowns and last season, the boys took it on themselves to promote mental health charity ‘Youngminds’, who work with young people and parents to understand more about how a youngster may be feeling and to provide support for someone who’s struggling.

As a thank-you for their efforts, the RFU invited the boys to Twickenham for the England v Barbarians game. Whilst there, the boys (and dads) were banner bearers on the pitch, as the teams ran out and during the national anthems, all in front of 50,000 eager spectators.

This was a fitting end to a superb season for the boys, who have played some excellent rugby this last season, culminating in them making the Fisherman’s Cup final.

The future looks bright for WIthycombe RFC.
