Welington woe for Exmouth Harriers runner Jim Wyatt

On the Saturday before Christmas Ray Elston and Jim Wyatt represented Exmouth Harriers at the Wellington Monument race on the Devon-Somerset border, writes Dave Eveleigh.
This is an up and down race over about six miles. Ray was pleased to finish second male over 70, being beaten by an athlete from North Wales.
At this time of the year with people travelling to visit family and friend it is not unusual to line up alongside unfamiliar faces.
However, what the unfortunate Jim came away with, was a badly cut face and a chipped tooth after falling at a particularly steep downhill section of the race!
Despite Jim arriving at the finish by ambulance Ray reports that he looked ready to make a good recovery.
