Topsham St James CC produced a superb run chase to leapfrog Honiton CC in E Division East of the Tolchards Devon Cricket League.
After setting a satisfactory total of 146, Honiton took to the field with hopes high of bagging a third victory of the season. Jonathan Sapwell, however, had a different plan, rattling off a fine 67, with Neil Shillabeer contributing 38 for a six-wicket win for Topsham.
Bradninch seconds are top of the division following a resounding 133-run victory over the extravagantly-named Bideford/Littleham/Westward Ho! Seconds.
Budleigh’s 10-wicket defeat of Axminster kept them in second position, with Clyst St George in third, despite their 20-run loss against Throverton.
The final game from E Division East saw Woodbury & Newton St Cyres defeat Ottery St Mary Seconds by 37 runs.
Topsham travel to Bradninch this weekend, Axminster host Clyst, Honiton are away at Throverton and Budleigh welcome Ottery.
