Topsham gain sweet revenge over Okehampton

Topsham ladies team had only two games last week, writes Colin Chudley.
Both matches were in the Exeter & District Over-50s League.
First up they played Sidmouth and won 46-28m but then suffered a reverse at Pinces Gardens, losing 21-44.
Meanwhile, Topsham continued their progress in the County Men’s Top Club competition when they defeated Heavitree.
They won the 4-wood singles 21-10, the pairs 26-22 and the triples 21-11. They drew the rinks 17-17, but lost the 2-wood 19-21, which all mean t an overall 3.5 t0 1.5 triumph.
In the Exeter & District Over-60s League, Topsham’s men took on neighbours Exmouth Madeira and the honours were shared. Topsham A beat Madeira A 36-27 but the B team lost to Madeira B 23-42.
Topsham C beat Ottery St Mary B 31-28 and the D team lost to Pinces Gardens D 28-47.
Last Thursday evening Topsham played Broadclyst in a friendly triples game but lost 49-86. Topsham were disappointed with the result but really enjoyed the after-game beer and pasties.
There was also an Exeter & District League and County Trophy game played on the same day and this saw the Topsham men gain sweet revenge over Okehampton for their defeat earlier in the season. They won on all four rinks, with the score 88-56. The unexpected loss by their near rivals Crediton against St Thomas gives Topsham a four point lead in the table with two matches ot play.
Last Friday and Saturday saw Topsham play two friendlies recording one loss and one win. At Sidmouth, after an enjoyable game, the score was Topsham 103 shots, Sidmouth 113shots.
On Saturday there was yet another friendly, this time against Bitten Park from Teignmouth which resulted in a 102-78 Topsham win.
