Monday saw Topsham’s men gain a comfortable win in the Top Club Competition when they defeated St Thomas 5-0.

They say all good things come to an end and on Tuesday we saw the end of a great run in the national over 60s mixed double rink for Topsham, when on a wet windy day in Plymstock, they eventually lost to the Cornish champions Chacewater in the area final 38-20.

Tuesday evening saw the unbadged ladies continue their winning streak in the E & D NBTL non badged triples league with a comfortable win against St Thomas ladies 51-26.

In Wednesdays Over 60s league, only Topsham’s B team of J Osgood, J Connett & M Mills (skip) and J Wroth, R Muskett and C Chudley (skip) managed to win. They beat Dawlish Marina B 36-27. Topsham A lost to Sidmouth A 28-32.The C team lost to North Tawton B 33-36 and Topsham D lost to Dawlish Marina C 25-38. In the evening the ladies gained their second win this week in the NBTL when they defeated Pinces Gardens 41-20.

In the main event on Wednesday, in front of a sizeable group of spectators, Topsham played Culm Vale, Cullompton in the area semi-final of the National mens two-by-fours competition. After 14 ends Culm Vale led by eight shots, but when Grant Howland’s rink picked up six shots on the 16th end Topsham rallied, and with their supporters cheering them on, they finished strongly and eventually triumphed by 39-29. The rinks were P Gale, P Stone, A Elson & Grant Howland (skip) and N Owen, A Woodley, Gary Howland, and L Phillips. They will now play the area final against the qualifiers from the Cornish section on July 21. Well done to all involved.

On Thursday the men’s E & D league & County trophy game saw table topping Topsham continue their good form with a win against Pinces Gardens. We won on all rinks and scored 102 shots to 69.
