Brixington Blues Under-12s defeated Culm Sampford 3-2 in a pulsating game that started with Ned O’Mahoney threading a beautiful pass for Ben Vines to open the scoring on two minutes.
Culm quickly levelled things up and Blues’ goalkeeper Evan Clark was in fine form to maintain parity, with Louis Foorde and Ryan McCann inspired in defence and midfield.
It was somewhat against the run of play when Culm grabbed a 2-1 lead but this merely sparked Brixington into staging a brilliant revival.
Clark turned from stopper to provider, as his long ball found Vines to calmly slot home his second goal on the stroke of half-time.
The second period was full of tension and fine performances all over the park from Brixington. The decisive moment arrived when O’Mahoney went on a skipping run, evading two lunging tackles before converting a superb winner.
One of the best games of the season and a fabulous team performance from all involved.
