At Budleigh they held a Spider event to mark the new season and the picture (right) shows many of the bowlers woods in place down the Budleigh rink during the match.

Today (Thursday) it is the turn of Madeira Bowling Club to launch their outdoor season and their opening drive begins at 2.00pm when Madeira President Ken Roberts will bowl the traditional opening wood of the season.

As it is also St George's Day, you can expect to find some suitably dressed members for the occasion!

The Madeira Club is also holding an Open Day this coming Sunday, April 26 from 2pm to 4pm when members of the public are cordially invited to get along and see just what the wonderful sport of bowls can do for you!
