BUDLEIGH Salterton sisters Liberty and Isabella Brown have lifted Under-18 and Under-14 tennis titles at the North Devon LTA grade 3 UK tennis tournament.

This is a back-to-back victory for 16-year old Liberty after her trophy win at the Bath 2010 tennis festival, whilst for 13-year old Isabella it adds to the title she won recently at the Poole 2010 festival.

In a packed fortnight for Isabella, she beat Jodie Burrage, Surrey, at the end of a week-long tournament in straight sets (7-5 6-3) at the Poole final; and then went straight to North Devon where she worked her way through the draw to meet Cornwall’s Sandy twins Shannon (semi-final) and Tamsin (final).

Isabella beat both in straight sets to lift her second title in as many weeks, dropping just three games in total.

Next stop for Isabella is the All England Club next week for the Road to Wimbledon Under-14 tournament.

Meanwhile, Liberty continued her best ever run in Barnstaple by beating Lauren Hill, Hampshire, in the Semi-finals 6-4 4-6 10-6 (match tie-break) and then beating Alice Snart, Avon 6-0 6-1 in the final.

This great run for Isabella and Liberty, who are both trained at LED’s Exmouth Tennis Centre by SW tennis coach Derek Blackmore, also saw them lift the Barnstaple Under 14s and U18s doubles trophies.

Isabella with doubles partner Becky Ley from Torquay, and Liberty with partner Emma Cooper from Exmouth.
