Having only two teams below you in the league, and taking on the one lying in third place is not an enviable task, even if it’s on you own alley, writes SpursTom.
However, that is precisely what the Terror Pins faced when entertaining Rayleigh Boys last Friday.
The hosts who lost the previous meeting at the Otter Inn, started brightly this time taking the first leg by 17 pins thanks to a spare by Chris Gatter.
What has become a familiar pattern this season continued, they could not sustain that position and loosing legs two to five inclusive to fall behind and all square after the next.
Confidence was restored, spares by Tom Pyne and David Hicks plus some other steady high scores turned what looked like being another setback into a 22 pins triumph.
Chris Gatter may have top scored, but it was the consistently high level of play by Sue Gatter that steadied the Terror Pins.
Next up for the Terror Pins is a Feathers Inn derby tonight as the away team against the Cricketers, who will be out for revenge.
