Visitors Franks Boys proved too good for Terror Pins last Friday night in a game which produced l46 more knocks than in the previous meeting between these two sides, writes SpursTom.
The hosts looking for a hat-trick of wins invited their guests to be the first to throw.
The challenge was accepted, with the aim of making things as difficult as possible, this was established by taking the first three legs and with it a 30 pin gap.
Terror Pins fought back to reduce the deficit whilst taking the next two legs ably helped by spares from Tony Gooding, Chris Gatter and the most improved team member David Hicks.
Having been knocked back a bit, Franks Boys were in no mood to allow things to slip away, and a 79 pin leg was just what they needed to increase the pressure.
The Terror Pins knew only that something special could take them within reach, but only managed a round of 65.
The final two legs were very close, despite a last leg spare from Sue Gatter, Terror Pins fell 26 short of the target.
Leading players on the night were Brian Stone (66), Stephen Bastyam (65), both for Franks Boys, and for the Terror Pins Chris Gatter (65), David Hicks (65).
On a happier note for the hosts, it was good to see Henry Yates back in action throwing again following his recent indisposition.
