Tony Mackness, the Budleigh Bowls Club Captain and three colleagues travelled to Sidmouth to play in the Jubilee Cup event.

This is a team competition, whereby visiting teams played teams from Sidmouth on a Round Robin basis. Budleigh had a slow start to the competition and at the halfway break for tea, they were well down the field. A pep-talk and the caffeine worked and at the end of the day, Budleigh finished midway in the scores. The competition was won by the team from Seaton.

Tony said: “Whilst our bowls was not at its best, we thoroughly enjoyed the visit and congratulations to Sidmouth for organising such a successful afternoon. These competitions allow you meet fellow bowlers in a friendly but competitive environment,”

Budleigh are hosting their Victory Cup, which is similar competition, on Friday, July 29 and look forward to welcoming teams from Exonia, Honiton, Madeira, Ottery and Phear Park.
