EXMOUTH’S cycling club, Cycle Sport Dynamo, has been very active in local racing this year, with members old and new producing impressive performances.
Andy Stovell came fifth in category in the LVRC 45 mile road race near Dorchester on Sunday, with fellow CSD riders, David Stephen and Keith White, not far behind in what remained of the bunch at the end of a particularly fast race.
Many members took part in the recently finished series of seven circuit races at Ilton airfield, promoted by Somerset club Team Tor 2000.
The Exmouth riders did particularly well in the green jersey sprint points competition, with Andy Waite finishing eleventh, Lubos Obornik ending sixth and and David Stephen getting onto the podium with his second place.
Earlier in the year, Lubos won his category on the same course in the Kalas 2-day event.
This weekend, the Exmouth club are staging their annual ‘4 up’ team time trial on the old A30 course at Rockbeare.
Teams of four riders will be racing against the clock over 40km, with a good prize list for various categories of riders.
This is always a popular event, and this year is no exception, with 26 teams of riders, from ranging from the local Exmouth, Sidmouth, and Exeter clubs, to teams from all over the South West, and some from even farther afield.
Look out for a report of how things went in next week’s Journal.
