Budleigh Salterton 6, Teignmouth 1 Peninsula League East With two forwards missing, the Robins formed a new strike partnership with Danny Williams and Ashley Barker.

Barker got on to the score sheet within a minute when Matthew Byrne dispossessed Andrew Roberts near the corner flag and supplied the cross for Barker to make it 1-0 from close range.

Ten minutes later, Chris Wright did well to push Ashley Webber's 18-yard shot on to the post. The clearance fell to Byrne, who volleyed Budleigh into a 2-0 lead from 40 yards when he spotted Teigns' keeper Liam Jones well off his goal line.

Byrne then went on to grab a hat-trick with more goals in the next 15 minutes.

Just before half time, Barker again went close with a shot that cannoned back off a post.

Three minutes into the second half, Teignmouth pulled a goal back when Rob Perry capitalised on a mistake in the Budleigh defence.

With the wind behind them, and taking the game to Budleigh, it made the counter-attack easier and Danny Williams found more space to break through the Teignmouth defence and add two more goals.

There is no game for the first team this Saturday, but support for the reserves would be welcomed. They are home to Culm United (3pm).

The reserves entertain Honiton Town next Wednesday night (January 23) at 7.30pm in the quarter-finals of the Morrison Bell Cup.

Carlsberg Peninsula League

Exmouth Town went down to their first home defeat since September 22 as Plymstock United left Southern Road with a deserved victory.

Town manager Richard Pears pulled no punches in his assessment of his side's display.

"It's the worst we've played all season," he fumed.

Town went into the interval with a 1-0 lead that they did not merit, which was courtesy of Tom Lowe's free-kick that flew into the net as visiting keeper Ben Elphick lost his footing as he attempted to collect it.

The second-half showed that Town had not heeded their warning as Plymstock ripped into them and levelled 20 minutes from time when Mike Southgate struck after keeper Tony Ali had parried Ben Anniss' long-range effort.

The visitors were in front three minutes later when Craig Holt drilled the ball home from 12 yards.

Victory was assured in the 81st minute when Phil Burgoyne found the bottom corner from 18 yards.

Town will be looking to bounce back against visiting Stoke Gabriel (2.45pm) this Saturday.
