At the Opening race in the Ironbridge Runner Exeter Summer 5km Series, six Exmouth Harriers, including four members of the Dupain family, toed the start line, writes Ellie Sutcliffe.

A wild and windy night though, washed away any chance of outstanding times for the Fab Four Dupains (or their roadies) on the 5km long course which winds its way around the Flowerpot and Exwick playing fields.

Chris Dupain was 25th overall in a field of 61 men and 25 women.

Next in for the Harriers was Chris’ sister Hannah Bown, 31st overall and fourth female, just 20 seconds or 80 metres behind 3rd with a tidy 19:51.

Then came a regular in this series, Andrew Johnson (Over 45 Man) with 21:02 in 46th place overall.

Ben White was 52nd in a respectable enough 21:46 before Dupain sister Emma (57th, 22:07) and dad Nigel (64th, 23:10) brought the curtain down on the family’s performance. Nigel was first in his veterans age group (Men Over 60).

The next race in the Series is on June 4, and, given the unhelpful conditions there is every prospect of all six Harriers representatives this month getting better times in June.
