Exe IV went into their final game of the season with their usual enthusiasm with coach Jill Dupain spurring them on.

The Exe forwards had several opportunities throughout the match, but failed to find a finish. Sidmouth and Ottery took the lead before half-time from a penalty corner.

After the break Exe again created, and missed, a number of gilt edged chances.

The SOHCV keeper made some fine saves and, when she was beaten, the frame of the goal came to her rescue!

A counter-attack put Exe further behind, but, with minutes remaining, a fast moving free hit from left mid defence to left wing and on to centre forward and the ball fell to Carly at the top of the circle and she made no mistake to end the Exe season with a fine team goal.

There was some all-round excellent defensive work by the Exe team with confident marking by Katie Russell, and Hannah Koeller inspired by captain Sarah Jackman.

Lorraine Curry’s tackling and interception was committed throughout the game alongside disciplined marking by Minz Burge and Sally Hammond.
