Some fine play throughout the team enabled the Exmouth under-8s to win both their games at Taunton.
THE Exmouth under-8s continued their rich vein of form at Taunton with a great display of attacking rugby.
In the first of two games the young Cockles claimed an 11-9 win. William White opened the scoring with a dogged run before the hosts levelled. Then Ben Lucas restored the Cockles advantage but once again the hosts found a response and a pair of tries saw them take the lead.
Scott Acheson was then introduced to the action and he stamped his mark on proceedings with an equalising try. The hosts then regained the lead before the Cockles struck twice through skipper Ieuan Brockway and another for Lucas to take a 5-4 lead into the break.
The second half began with the hosts once again levelling before a brace from Finn Musgrove, one of which saw him run the length of the pitch, put somne daylight between the sides.
The Cockles now took charge and scored further tries through White (2), Acheson and Musgrove whilst there was also some superb support play from Oliver Sturdy, Benji Horn and Liam Daniels.
The second game produced some similar flowing rugby based on a solid defence and some smooth handling. The Cockles emerged from the second game as 13-9 winners with the tries shared by Musgrove, White, Lucas and Acheson.
Next up for the young Cockles is this coming Sunday’s derby meeting with Topsham.
