Withycombe Under-13s were 24-10 victors over a well-drilled Teignmouth outfit.
Historically the meeting between these two sets of players has always seen two well-matched sides battle a close encounter and this one,
Played on a sun-kissed autumnal Sunday morning at Raleigh Park was no different.
The first half saw play move from end-to-end with the Withy forwards providing their backs with good ball from both set and open play.
Just before the break the hosts, who had begun to get the better of the visitors at the breakdown, did so again for Kyle Perry to score a try which Oscar Moyle converted to leave Withy ahead at the interval.
The second half started as the first had finished with Withy looking the stronger in the set piece. That factor, combined with some commanding runs from Ben Howes soon saw the home side score again with Jason Farrant crossing out wide. The visitors produced a good response to being two tries down and got one back themselves, but the margin between the teams was swiftly restored when Farrant crossed again with Moyles slotting another conversion.
Withy picked up the pace to score again through Parry, before Teignmouth had the final say in a good contest with a try just before the final whistle.
