Withycombe Under-12s were 35-7 winners when they visited Teignmouth,
Ben Wilkinson scored four of the five tries, all of which were converted by Will Cooper.
Withy dominated from their own kick-off pressuring the home defence for prolonged periods. This was rewarded midway through the half with Will Jones touching down deservedly on the left wing. Cooper slotted the conversion and that single converted try proved to be the only score of the first half.
Withy were unlucky not to be going into the break with a higher margin having had more of the possession and working the ball well through the hands. Any Teignmouth attack during the first half was absorbed well with Max Rickards notable for a ferocious cover tack to snuff out a dangerous looking attack by Teignmouth down the left flank.
The second half began with a probing Tom Humphry run from full back to put Ben Wilkinson away to double the lead.
Withy then went a man down and Teignmouth came back camping out on the Withy try line for a spell, but all attacks were gallantly repelled. With a reinstated team Withycombe then began to fire on all cylinders shipping the ball out wide to score a further two well-worked tries.
Teignmouth came back and their hard work throughout the game was rewarded with a converted try of their own.
A final Withy break saw Wilkinson go in for his fourth of the day to settle the score line. This was game was most notable as a very accomplished team display by Withycombe, probably their best performance of the season so far. Good tackling and well won ball at the breakdown followed by unselfish handling out wide provided the points from fast inventive running.
