Withycombe Under-11s put Teignmouth to the sword

Withycombe Under-11s final home game of the season saw them take on reigning Devon champions Teignmouth who they beat in some style, winning a one-sided affair 45-0.

As they have done for much of this campaign, Withy made a powerful start and shortly after the start Paddy McGuiness weaved his way through the Teigns defence to score the first try of the contest.

James Griffin set the platform for the next Withy try after winning crucial ball in the rucks. The ball was then shipped out to wing where Charlie Passmore showed his pace to race clear and double the lead.

Callum Tose, who has only scored one try all season, grabbed two more before Ollie Willis, Harry Bennett and a Passmore double saw him complete yet another hat-trick. The hard ground saw a couple of knocks to the young Teigns so the game finished five minutes early, with Withy comfortable winners.

The teams played another game for which Withy supplied the Teigns with four players. The ‘mixed’ team of Teigns and Withy won this contest 25-15.

In a match of high quality with plenty of attacking rugby served up by both sides.

Withy skipper Sam Skinner scored a couple of tries, one after a lovely pass from Erin Asselman. The other Withy try scorer was Jack Draper.

This coming weekend Withycombe are taking over 100 young rugby players on a tour Cornwall with matches being played in Newquay to round off another excellent season.
