Withycombe Under-11s met a powerful Kingsbridge for a brace of games.
The opening game produced a well-contested first half with little to separate the two sides; finishing one try apiece a the break.
In the second half Kingsbridge handled well from the break down to run in a further two tries making use of their fast and skilful backs to win 15-5. Will Jones scored the Withy try.
The Withy Man of the Match award went to Will Cooper for his good all-round play.
The second game followed a similar pattern and, despite Withy upping their game and showing more resolve in all areas, they were 2-1 down at half-time.
After the break, playing good rugby, both teams scored two well-crafted tries, but Kingsbridge again emerged victorious at 20-15. This was a fair representation of a close match which Withy can consider themselves unlucky not to have drawn.
The Withy try scorers were Ben Wilkinson, Tom Humphrey and Will Cooper. Skipper Matthew Hicks was named the Man of the Match.
These were two entertaining games of rugby played at a very good standard against well drilled visitors who handled well and dominated the scrums and line outs.
Despite the score lines Withy defended well against Kinsbridge and competed well in all areas especially in the second game. Well done to Zac Burnard and Aiden Priest for volunteering to stand in for Kingsbridge as injury replacements.
