Exmouth Under-13s scored a dozen point’s in each half on their way to a 24-5 victory at Cullompton.

There was an explosive start to the Stafford Park game with Andrew Wheeler powering over then home try line just 20 seconds into the contest!

The Mid Devon side looked to get back on terms but found the Cockles in no mood to surrender their lead. A superb collective effort of rucking and mauling resulted in the Cockles scoring a second try when Adam Furneaux went over.

The home side did then rally and scored a try of their own but the Cockles went into the break with a 12-5 advantage.

Once again the Cockles were quickly out of the blocks at the start of the second half and, after they got the ball wide, second row Nat Aasma sprinted three quarters then length of the field to bag a third try, this time within 35 seconds of the re-start!

With the forwards dominating it was no surprise when Wheeler barged his way through for his second with Alex Taylor tucking away a third conversion.

Back came the hosts and it required some tenacious tackling, particularly from Alfie Downs and Jack Sawden, to prevent them getting a second score.

Fittingly the Cockles had the final say on proceedings when Tarquin Kerton Johnson got on the end of a sweeping move to complete the scoring.

That proved to be the final play of the game as a suspected neck injury to one of then home players resulted in the referee bringing the game to a premature halt.
