Topsham RFC go into their last game of the season well prepared despite a two-week lay off.

Tops haven’t played a Saturday game for a while, but did get in a Tuesday night friendly against a strong Exmouth 2nd XV.

Although Topsham lost34-31 to a strong side that included players who sat on the 1st

XV bench at Redingensians, Tops’ coach Ross Bovingdon felt it was a worthwhile exercise.

“We gave a run out to 22 boys and played some superb rugby in flashes,” said Bovingdon.

“At one point we were 31-17 up, but need to improve on our game management and play in the opposition half.”

Full-back Tim Taylor and No.8 Rupert Stanning collected injuries and are doubtful for the game against visiting Plymoutb Argaum.

Half-backs Tom Viljoen and Ben Shires should return to the side.

Argaum are going up as divisional champions, but Bovingdon says that is no reason to fear them.“It would be great to finish with an upset win to build some momentum

for next season,” said Bovingdon.
