Topsham player-coach Ross Bovingdon will be looking to add some quality to the squad during the close season.

Tops ‘season ended on a low note in a 35-19 defeat by Devon One champions Plymouth Argaum.

As Argaum have swept almost all before them on the way to the title, Topsham need not dwell on the result.

Bovingdon said the side is moving in the right direction within certain limitations.

“We have got a pattern and structure to our play now, more than we had before,” he said.

“Numbers are good and we have been putting out two teams, which is a step forward.

“Filling gaps we can do but we need more depth if we are going to progress.”

Topsham scored first against Argaum through Adam Buckley, but were, 35—5 down before they scored again.

Ben Rudkin and Ed Smale were the try scorers with Aled Rosser converting both tries.
