ALTHOUGH Robert Marshall and Eric Bramwell tackled ably, Tiverton breached the Cockles defence to go 7-0 up.

George Collett and Luke Bailey worked hard to keep Tiverton at bay, and Charlie Girdlemaslen made a good run, but a second Tiverton touchdown was not long coming.

The Exmouth forwards were winning scrums and some fierce rucking took place, but Tiverton went through to go 21-0 up.

Jacob Cornish and Luke Bailey put up a spirited rearguard action. Bramwell, Gibbins and Taylor were stalwart in defence and Exmouth won one scrum, then another.

To the Cockles' dismay, Tiverton stretched their lead to 28-0.

Collett and Girdlemaslen stemmed the tide of Tiverton tries and, finally, the Exmouth boys' persistence paid off when Adam Furneaux took the ball over for a deserved try.

Supporters cheered loudly when Furneaux succeeded in his first ever conversion attempt.

Their heads now up, Exmouth looked certain to get back into the game.

Unfortunately, the Cockles' hopes were dashed when Tiverton shot through to seal the game.
