EXMOUTH Colts went down to a 12-3 defeat in their game at Honiton.

Having totally dominated the first half, Exmouth should have come away with the points, but a storming second half by the hosts won the match.

Despite having the benefit of the slope and, indeed, enjoying the lion's share of both possession and territorial advantage, Exmouth just couldn't break down the stubborn host defence.

The first points came from the boot of Howard Smith from a penalty wide out.

Honiton had two opportunities soon afterwards, but both attempts went wide.

Honiton used the slope to good effect and soon capitalised on some good work to score an unconverted try wide out.

They added a second 10 minutes later which saw some excellent interplay and handling from backs and forwards.

Honiton deserved their win but Exmouth were gulity of being below par on the day.
