Seymour stars as Cockles Colts defeat Newton Abbot

Exmouth Colts were 22-13 winners over Newton Abbot.
The Cockles used the game to look at a number of positional changes and indeed experiment with a few ideas and they made a great start when fly-half Paul Bright off-loaded to the supporting Josh Sargant to score and Danny Sansom tucked away the conversion.
After twice crossing the line only to have ‘scores’ ruled out, the Cockles were pegged back when Newton Abbot registered a good catch and drive unconverted try. Just before the break a Cockles off-side infringement allowed Newton Abbot to slot a penalty and take an 8-7 lead into half-time.
Twice more ‘scores’ were ruled out before, fifteen minutes into the second half, Simon Hartery barged his way over to score an unconverted try to restore the Cockles lead which was extended further when Josh Elliot went over.
The final score came after the Josh Sargant raced away down the wing before passing to Luke Seymour who out stripped the covering defence to score in the corner with what proved to be a very popular score with his team-mates!
Luke Seymour was named the Man of the Match and on Saturday the Cockles begin their League campaign with a trip to Torrington.
