Withycombe Under-9s welcomed Exeter Chiefs to Raleigh Park on Easter Sunday and suffered their first double dose of defeat this season!
In the opening game there was some excellent running and tackling from both teams and it was Withy who shaded the first half proceedings.
After the break the Chiefs took charge and used their greater size to great effect constantly breaking through some rather weak tackling.
As a result the final score was in favour of the Chiefs at35-30.
Charlie Passmore claimed yet another try treble for Withy and the other scorers were Erin Assleman, Alfie Gillard and Harry Bennett.
Game two saw another close encounter between two well-balanced outfits, but once again the visitors emerged triumphant at the final whistle, this time to the tune of a 30-25 victory.
The Withy scorers in this game were Erin Assleman, Joe Farmer, Joe Cole, Harry Bennett and Harry Williams.
Man of the Match went to Charlie Passmore for his sportsmanship in disallowing a try from one of his team mates with the ref unsighted!
Ultimately, the difference between the two sides on the day was the superior tackling by the Chiefs which forced errors from Withy, errors that were generally seized upon and swiftly converted into points.
Well done to both sides though for putting on an Easter morning treat!
