Sam Reid powered over the Saracens line twice as Exmouth Nomads had a comfortable victory over the visitng Exeter side.
EXMOUTH Nomads were worthy winners over Exeter Saracens seconds, writes Robert Lowe.
Just five minutes were on the clock when pressure from the Nomads scrum coupled with good defence resulted in veteran winger Rich Haynes running clear fro the half-way line to open the scoring.
The conversion was missed and the following exchanges were error strewn and it was the Exeter side who struck next following a scrum on the 22 that was spun wide.
The next score came from some superb play involving Sam Reid who, after some powerful hand offs and devastating sidesteps, scored under the posts. Murrin converted and the Nomads led 12-7.
Next up, good line-out work from Tom Caygill followed by good ball from fly-half Lloyd Murrin and an excellent line of running by Sam Reid, ended with the latter scoring. Murrin again tucked the conversion away and Nomads headed into the break 19-7 ahead.
After the break the play was littered with missed opportunities and, all too often, greedy play by the home side!
The final try of the game arrived from a scrum against the with speedy scrum half Mike Symons picking the ball up from the scrum to score. Murrin put up away his third conversion and that sealed a 26-7 win. This weekend the Nomads are set to face Teignmouth seconds.
