With captain Dave McCarthy injured and several players unavailable, the Eagles took to the field with many players carrying injuries and others being required to play in different posiitons.

For the first 30 minutes play was end to end and it was not until the closing stages of the opening half that the Sharks opened the scoring.

Eagles found an immediate response and went in at 6-6, thanks to a Nathan Budd try and a Richard Cadywould convertion.

Three minutes into the second half the Sharks regained the lead and they scored again to take control.

On the hour Jonny Boltrukiewicz, charged over, Cadywould converted and the Eagles were back in the game.

However, a strong finish from the Sharks saw them score three more tries and, despite a late score from Cadywould, the perfect end to what has been a marvellous season for the Eagles, was not to be.
