WITHYCOMBE RFC have announced changes to the 1st XV coaching set-up for the coming season.

It’s all change in terms of the coaching set-up at Withy and it looks to be a master-stroke by the club.

Trevor Harris has re-joined the club as specialist coach.

Harris was previously with the club during the halycon days from 1996-2001, a period that remains, to this day, their most successful period.

Harris, a former Exeter and Devon prop, still coaches the Devon County Under-20 side.

Ant Waller has been recruited as both a player and a conditioning coach. He was released by the Exeter Chiefs at the end of last season.

Waller lives locally and he continues a family link with the club after his Father also played for the club.

The third member of the new coaching set-up is Shaun Parkin who has been a player at the club for two decades.

He has more recently been coaching at neighbouring Exmouth RFC Colts, where both his talented sons played.

The three new coaches join the current Withy specialist coach, Joff Rowe and the quartet will be working hard in the new campaign to see if the 1st XV can’t repeat some of those glorious days of the late 1990’s.

l The Withycombe RFC Juniors Registration Day is being held at the club on Sunday September 12 from 10am.

Training though for the section does begin the week before with the first session being on Sunday, September 5.
