A last minute Sam Conway penalty saw Withycombe to a richly deserved 24-21 Raleigh Park success over Lanner.

The contest was certainly one that swung from end-to-end with both sides – at times – fancying their chances of taking the victory.

Tries from Rob Griffiths and Tom Parnell, both converted by Conway, saw Withy into a 14-0 lead.

Back came Lanner with three converted tries to lead 21-14 to leave the home faithful probably feeling that the green and blacks were staring down the barrel of an eighth Tribute Cornwall and Devon defeat.

However, some terrific foot skills from Parnell guided him to the line and a third successive Conway conversion levelled things up at 21-all and that is the way it stayed until the dying embers of the game when Withy were awarded another penalty.

This one was given after a high tackling on Sam Warren, who had looked to wheel away from the line-out.

Conway set the ball up, settled himself down, and promptly rifled the ball between the posts to see Withy to an eighth win of the league campaign.
