In an extremely absorbing game, the Cockles did not dominate early on, although the final score went their way.

Nick Headley got on the score sheet, converted by Harry Ottaway, who would be successful one more time from four attempts during the afternoon.

Ivybridge were enthusiastic and grabbed a try back. However, Will Hockin worked hard to take the first of what would be a brace of tries for him and, at half-time, the Cockles led 12-5. After the break, once again, indiscipline got the better of a youthful Cockles XV and they were reduced to 13 players after a two yellow cards in quick succession.

Trying to force the play, Exmouth became disjointed and took a while to find their rhythm.

During this time, the visiting side got a try back. However, the Cockles were soon back on the front foot and tries from Erin Inglis and a second for Hockin saw the side to victory.

On Saturday (October 6), the Cockles 2nd XV are on their travels when they head for a game at Teignmouth 2nds.
